Current Density
The current density is copper magnet wire can be conservatively set at 1 A for every 700 circular mils or 0.354 mm2. Using this number, acceptable current density is 2.82 A/mm2 or 3 A/mm2. The actual current density can be much higher (2 to 5 times) depending on several parameters such as cooling, ambient temperature, etc.
